i'm intersted in purchasing some software, but have no idea what to consider - there's so much out there.
what's everyone using? likes/dislikes? i'm only using stuff at astro.com and it's time to get something w/more....stuff.

This may probably be NO help to you at all [sorry!!!] but I use astro-pocket 3.31, a program for my old palm pilot which probably cost me all of $15 at the time. I've been carrying it around for years...great for running charts and killing time on trains and in doctor's offices, asking myself questions about old ex-boyfriends or my children's latest interesting development... yet it's accurate enough that I've done readings with it on the spot when a friend has begged me for a quick transit check. Very convenient to have it always in my purse! When I want an emphemeris, i go to astrodienst on line.

I absolutely LOVE Solar Fire but it is not cheap. It has alot of capability, and is very user friendly. They have new versions of it out now, but I've been using mine for 5 years and it cost under 300.00.

PS I have NEVER regretted buying it, though I bought it "blind", as in never seen it before or even saw anyone use it before

SolarFire and Janus are the two I rely on; if I had to choose only one = SolarFire

wow. thanks everyone. if i had a palm, i'd be there!
i just use astrodienst, i'm not ready to splurge on a $300 program (yeah, we'll see, i have a 29 degree mars which usually means i say i won't, will think about a bunch of things, and then suddenly do what i didn't think i was going to do, but probably should've just done it in the first place to save time....)
any others?
i saw an add for timepassages for about $40...but it just seemed like the free thing at astro.
what i really would love to be able to do is to click and "drag" a planet and see when a certain transit will happen. do any programs do that?
thanks for all of the feedback.

I loved my Astro Pocket on my old palm as well but the batteries run down a bit too quickly now to make it viable ![]()

Pinky, did you know there are on line directions for changing the battery at home yrself? I am close to that stage, my T3 must be 7 years old.
It's Astropocket which has kept me from moving up to newer technology, I luv it that much. Have charts on friends and incidents going back over a decade...
