Saturn transiting 10th house

Hi

Does anyone else have Saturn transiting their 10th house? I am really struggling with this transit - I was retrenched when Saturn was 10 degrees away from my MC and I have really been struggling with work since then. I luckily got another job within a week, but I had a very difficult boss. I stayed there for 1,5 years, then got a job with another mag which was awful and I only lasted 4 months (the magazine has subsquently closed). I am now in yet another job where I have a difficult boss - he misses deadlines, comes to work late, takes days off.
I've also had Saturn and Uranus squaring my Sag planets while Saturn transits my 10th - and Uranus cnj Mars in Pisces in 4th and Saturn opp Mars.

Anybody else struggling/has struggled with Saturn transiting their 10th house? I would like to hear your story, and how you coped with/resolved any difficult situations.

thanks
Newmoon

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Firstly, is the good news that Saturn has been in yr house for 1.5 years now, and so should be relenting somewhat soon with all its precious "lessons?"  The first year has usually been the hardest for me of any Saturn transit, as the area of hard work required manifests and I learn whatever the heck skill it is I need to know to tackle the task at hand.

I haven't had Saturn in the 10th since 1982 big_smile and when it hit me then I also had Neptune on the ASC. So I was REALLY messed up in terms of what I wanted to do (right out of college too :C) I had three false starts in the next two years, a lot of tears (that would be Neptune) and very little logical planning. Luckily however, one particular thing that I studied during the transit as stress relief, proved to be Very Important for that fourth work career which lasted a good 20 years... but that didn't kick in till about 1985-6.

So if there is anything you have been thinking of doing in terms of study or self-application related to your work, or ANY work, well, if you have the time and energy to pursue it, maybe such a study would pay off for you as well?

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Thanks ellsbells

I actually quit my job yesterday. I decided my health was more important. I am feeling quite traumatised and exhausted from the past 2 years, so I'm going to take some time off, then try do some temp/freelance work. (I think with Uranus and Pluto natally in the 10th I must finally realise a permanent job doesn't work that well for me! But then I also have Saturn natally in the 6th.)

Also Saturn is squaring my Moon and with a Cap ASC I find that Saturn transits hit me quite hard.

Saturn is going to be transiting my 10th until October 2011! Eeek.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Hello Newmoon, I’m sorry Saturn in the 10th is proving so tricky. Well done on taking a decision to freelance it for a while, it can’t have been an easy one.

Being mixed up in the cardinal t-square isn’t helping, is it. Do you have the Feb March Mountain Astrologer? There’s a very good article in it by Bill Herbst — about those of us with natal points triggered by the t-square — at the least it’s good to know we’re not alone.

My natal Pluto in 10th is at 29VIR, so soon to be visited by retrograding Saturn, while my nMoon at 2CAP is also going through it with the cardinal t-square.

Like you, I have Saturn natally in the 6th, Pluto in the 10th. I’m feeling wretched career-wise. Lifelong themes of poor self-confidence and feeling like carrion-fodder. As though all around me are career crows with beady black eyes and strong, merciless beaks. My job is tiny and temporary contract. I know I do what I am currently doing very well, but the nature of my job makes it very easy for a job done well to be seen as a job done poorly. It’s tricky. I need a strong team around me, but the team is picking itself apart due to internal politics. There is a definite risk of being scapegoated, which I must do my best to avoid.

How is your health (Saturn natally in 6th)? I ask because I’ve recently had / am having a major health scare that rattled a lot of other things into perspective, and has actually made my perception of my career situation a bit brighter.

Anyway, I’m thinking of you. Sorry I’m not able to give you a perspective from the other side. Just to know you’re not alone.

Bests.

I actually had a good one of those.  I got very serious with my writing and had some good projects, experiences around that during that transit.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Hi Gin

I'm sorry to hear about your health scare. My health is one of the reasons I quit  - nothing (touch wood) major wrong but I'm so stressed I can't eat, sleep, breathe, night sweats, cold sweats, can't concentrate. When I do manage to sleep I wake up nearly vomiting from worry. I'm hoping now I've resigned that will all ease up.

I've just had Saturn over my Pluto at 1 degree Libra and soon it will be in exact square to my Moon. So yes, we seem to be in similar boats!

I don't get the Mountain Astrologer. I'll have to scrounge around for that interview.

Your job sounds tricky. I am also in a 'scapegoat' position. I'm working with someone who isn't capable, and I was told that was why I was there - but he earns three times my salary and he's rude to me! There's no way I'm putting up with that. Now they're trying to get me to stay. I guess that way they won't have to deal with the actual problem - he schmoozes the big bosses and they just ignore the fact that he can't actually do his job. The big boss actually sent me an SMS these evening to ask me if I would change my mind and stay at the company but work with a different editor. I said no way - I've told them repeatedly that there is a problem, and they've been telling me I need to chill and they've just ignored my situation - why would I stay at a place like that when it's been made so clear to me that when I bring up issues they won't be addressed. Now they're panicking and asking me to stay. It's pathetic.

When does your contract end? Is there a possibility of it becoming long term?

AquaAlex - thanks for the positive spin.

Did you have any 'challenging' transits while Saturn was transiting your 10th? Or did Saturn make good aspects to your natal planets?

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Hello again Newmoon. So, ‘the big boss’ (what a Saturn thing) wants you to act as Saturnine foundations, propping up another’s incompetence. Marvellous.

You’re right, we are in similar boats on different seas. Do you have the feeling that the Pluto square we’ve both recently had prepared the ground for Saturn with all the subtlety of a steak-tenderising mallet?

Saturn natally in the sixth does often seem to manifest health problems. Think it’s a sort of polite cough to get us to take action on the parts highlighted by its transits that we might be trying to avoid facing. I hope you start to feel better very soon.

AquaAlex (hello) has got me thinking. Other areas where I’m ‘seen’ and have a reputation (10th) are going well, it’s just that I struggle to value them adequately because there is no financial reward attached to them (Cappy Moon in 2nd talking, much). There’s a lesson here.

My job couldn’t become permanent, could last a few years or could end next week, as it is attached to individuals for as long as their situation remains the same. Part of it will definitely end in July. Thing is, I’m overqualified for it. Were I to take a step into the unknown, refresh old qualifications and take a little risk, things would change. I’ve painted myself into a corner over the years. I think these transits are telling me that the paint is dry now and it’s safe to leave. In fact, should I try not to leave, the option of staying will be removed. Does any of this make sense with your current circumstance?

You’re making the change and I salute you for it. Bet Saturn and Pluto do too — you’re certainly honouring the transit. What is it that Bernadette Brady says to people who come to her in pieces, with big transits? "Congratulations, you’re doing the astrology really well" .

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Thanks Gin!

HR phoned me this morning with yet another 'option' for me. Won't I please consider freelancing as a managing editor on one of the magazines I currently work on. I let rip - for three months I've been told that I'm not up to the job and lots of nasty things were said to me - and now they're coming up with this crap, trying to so hard to make me stay. I basically told them all to shove it. I had a LOT to say to HR. You don't treat somebody badly for three months, then try fix things AFTER they hand in their resignation.

Which Pluto square are you referring to? Pluto square Pluto - or do you mean the general Pluto square Saturn?

Taking a risk is scary but right now I feel angry (re the job situation) and enormously relieved that I'm getting out of there. Not sure when the UH OH I don't have a job will kick in!

[In fact, should I try not to leave, the option of staying will be removed. Does any of this make sense with your current circumstance?]
Yup this makes sense. Situations have been telling me for 2 years now to get out of a permanent job and to work for myself, and I haven't listened to my gut - and now I'm in this unpleasant situation.

Aspects during my Saturn 10th transit:

Saturn conj. Natal Mars.
Saturn sextile Natal Moon.
Saturn trine Natal Venus
Saturn square Natal Sun
Saturn square Natal Asc
Saturn square Natal Jupiter

So it was pretty heavy in terms of aspects.  I also had Jupiter transiting the 10th during the time (just checked) so I guess that's where the good stuff came from.

Wowsers. I know working at that particular place isn't what you are looking for, however that seems to be a lovely bolt of validation for your future freelancing plans.

Which Pluto square are you referring to? Pluto square Pluto

That's the one. A lot of what we are experiencing with Saturn through the 10th is coloured by what's going on with our natal 10th house Plutos (feels weird to write that as a plural). Natally my Saturn placement is okay, and Saturn transits are usually as productive as AquaAlex experienced. It's the SA PL chemistry experiment that I'm feeling blitzed by. How did you find your Pluto square Pluto? During mine I found that whenever I acted or reacted in a poor, shadowy-patterning way, something in the world outside would react very rapidly. I didn't get away with anything, in other words. [Sulk.] Real threefold return. That's what I meant by it being like walloped by a steak tenderiser.

Taking a risk is scary but right now I feel angry (re the job situation) and enormously relieved that I'm getting out of there. Not sure when the UH OH I don't have a job will kick in!

Just remember that huge resource of constructive energy you directed at HR today!

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Gin, my Pluto square Pluto happened (and is still going on) at sort of the same time as Pluto cnj Moon and ASC, and Uranus cnj Mars and square Sun - so I can't really separate out the Pluto square Pluto, but yes I feel like I've been hit with a sledgehammer. And also like I keep getting messed over, like you say.
I have a Pluto-Mars-Sun/Moon/ASC T-square - with the Moon at 29 Sag and ASC at 3 Cap - and the T-square just keeps getting activated by the Saturn-Pluto square.
During the start of the Pluto Moon cnj I felt like I'd been turned inside out. Like a squid before you cook it.

I'm hoping the rough times will ease up once the Saturn square Moon moves on. Then we'll have Uranus square Moon to contend with!
I realised it's also since Uranus started opposing my MC that my work life hasn't stayed that stable. But now it's 12 degrees past that opposition.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

I have some similar aspects to New Moon who started this thread. Saturn in the 10th and now almost retrograde and square to my Moon on the 7th in Gemini.

When Saturn first hit my 10th I experienced a kind of milestone in my career. For Saturn's transit through the 9th I studied for my masters degree in teaching and Saturn retrograde conjunct to the 10th was the exact day of my graduation ceremony! (I started my degree when the progressed Sun entered my 9th with Saturn). My brother-in-law, whom I do some astrology for, also experienced Saturn on the 10th as a major period of success in his publishing business (we both have Sagittarius rising).

Since then however, work has began to feel like being in a rut for both of us. We both experience that our hearts are not in our jobs like they used to be (but he has Pluto conjunct to Mars square Saturn and experienced burn out from work - which I warned him about!).

With Virgo ruling my 10th I have found that when I focus on one thing at a time and try to improve my professionality, I start to feel for my work again. Saturn in the 10th is about raising the bar at work and putting in the effort to be better at what we do - or even demanding recognition if we don't get given it! Saturn square to my Moon has created a lot of emotional frustration, but I know that my attitudes towards work (6th) really need to change. This is indicated by a 6th house Moon as well as Pluto which is now opposing my 7th and 10th house ruler Mercury which is in the 7th.

Sometimes I feel that I really need to quit my job and  focus on working for myself (Pluto/Uranus in the 10th) and working more from home in the field of online language tuition. I think with Uranus in the 4th during this opposition, T-square period - people with Saturn in the 10th could experience some really liberating changes in work, and in unexpected ways too. With Uranus I feel the challenge is to give up attachments and insecurities and ride with the new winds that come along, have faith and trust that things work out for the better in the end.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

^It's weird because I find Jupiter is such a weird planet.  It brought ZERO of its magic to my 7th house when it transited Aquarius.  It's really doing absolutely nothing in my 8th right now.  I remember my 1st house and 5th house Jupiter transits had some Jupiterness to them (I gained weight but was very happy and magnanimous during the 1st and had a lot of fun times and two flings during the 5th . . . and wrote two plays).  I'm having the Pluto Square now and a Saturn-Saturn square as well.  It's tough, but really not overwhelming.  Entered a 12 step program this year and doing a lot of work around some personal issues, so I feel I have a safe structure to work on my issues and effect change.  But mostly I feel like I'm just slugging through a lot of personal muck and wanting to bring some change into my life, but feeling overwhelmed and mired in piles of dead psychic weight.  Doing everything I can do and turning things over to the universe.   The stars haven't been too generous with me these last few years sad

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

Hi AquaAlex

I don't remember Jupiter doing much for me in the 7th or 8th houses either. The last time my life was going well was when Jupiter transited my Sag stellium in the 12th house - it's now transiting my 4th house.
Other than that I've also had a rough time for many years - Pluto, Saturn and Uranus have been setting off my Mars-Pluto-Sun/Moon/ASC T-square for a long time. Mars at 24 Pisces, Pluto at 1 Libra, Sun 25 Sag, Moon 29 Sag and ASC at 3 Cap.
It feels neverending. These days my anxiety levels are through the roof (Uranus and Saturn?) - before that it was major Pluto transits.
I am very tired of it.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

I have Saturn transiting the 10th.

I had been with my employer for over a decade. Since 2007, I had been promised promotions that never came. I would do the work, but someone else who was nowhere near qualified would always get promoted. I worked hard, was valued and recognized, yet wasn't getting raises or promotions. It had turned into a very horrible place to work over the last 3 years. I got extremely tired of it and quit my job in mid-March of this year.

A couple weeks later, in April, I decided city living wasn't for me and relocated to the remote mountains, with the intention of freelancing. I haven't yet put forth too much effort into getting work to this point, since I also dealt with a nasty staph infection while I was in the process of moving at the end of April! I finally recovered from that several days ago.

So, I decided to take a several off to enjoy doing "nothing", then planned to get serious about things. My time to get on it was this weekend. Now I find myself with a viral infection that the antibiotics triggered while killing the bacterial infection. Yikes!

I cashed out a small portion of my retirement to move, pay down some debt and to live on until I started bringing in income. That's almost gone. Of course, I don't want to touch the rest of my retirement. So, I am going to have to work very hard, while ill.

Yes, I do have Saturn in the 6th house natally. I'm glad I found this forum, because I'd like to compare myself to newmoon, since we look eerily similar.

Hi Igorchi

I am sorry to hear you are ill - I also got quite sick when I quit my job start April, but it cleared up after a week.

I think about moving away from the city all the time!

Do you have any planets in the 10th? Saturn transiting my 10th is coming up to its last hit of squaring my Moon in the 12th and conjuncting my Pluto in the 10th. I am in the process of trying to change careers so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Saturn transiting 10th house

I'm 11 July 1970. I found a few interesting things this morning. Aside from Saturn's transit, I have Uranus transiting the 4th, Pluto transiting the 1st. I found this page which seems pretty spot on to me. http://2010t-square.blogspot.com/2009/0 … iting.html

I moved to a remote location in the mountains along the Arizona-Mexico border, where my dad was born. He is currently staying with me and my husband off and on until his lease in the city runs out in a couple months. Then, he'll live with us full time. Needless to say, trying to work at home with family around is really frustrating. I'm normally not very domestic, but with my dad around, I am forced to be.

My writing focus (on the side) had been writing about the paranormal, but it was largely unpaid, although I have a following. Well, I can't do unpaid work anymore. Natally, I have a stellium in the natal 8th house with Sun-Mercury-Mars.  But, with the 8th house Venus transit, I'm thinking that my recent weird interest in writing erotica might actually get money moving for me in the world of writing. We'll see.

Thank you! It's great to find you all!

I hope that my astrology skills continue to strengthen because I finally see how the planets influence me (and have influenced me thus far). I had been strongly debating friends and family on their Facebook pages over various issues. Their only defense had been just to let me have the last word and try to change the subject...Mars 9th house transit...
