Kundalini - twisted serpents ?
I had an odd dream last night... I was half awake, half asleep (fugue state? in and out of dreams? ) and all of a sudden, I saw in front of my eyes two twisted serpents, that almost looked like they were climbing on a scepter. They were about half a foot high, but I sensed they could grow higher...

It felt like I was told this was my kundalini energy that I was awakening with my current health kick (I am doing yoga every day anticipating removal of a CIN2 precancerous condition. )

It also felt like I was told that I progressed through this new year, I would be like these snakes. That I was creating a new life, and my old life was going to be shed like a snakeskin and the new me would emerge (soft shiny skin? Big Grin) I sort of saw the shedding process and saw the new me emerging... strangely younger .

OKay, so what was this dream? What is kundalini? I'm not too familiar with it.

While I'm doing yoga asanas every day (working through a decade old collection of Yoga Journals) it's been with a simple Western eye to immune system boosting to fight the recurrence of cancer cells post op, not mysticism. I DO recall reading in YJ that it was dangerous for beginners to access Kundalini energy prematurely, so trust me, this wasn't anything I am aspiring to. I would read up on it today, except for the above stated warnings! Unless my unconscious mind could be on a power trip?

Far be it from me to rush things, tho, doing yoga at home alone in my basement... no teacher...

here are some pointers that can perhaps clear things a bit if you're looking for what the things in your dream are:

Kundalini-DNA-Caduceus

"The Caduceus is one of the most ancient of all symbols. It is now recognized as a DNA structure whether the medical system is aware of this or not. Since Ancient Mesopotamia, the caduceus has represented two serpents intertwined (the central nervous system and kundalini energies) around a staff (the spinal column) with the "wings" (the engorged hemispheres of the brain) on either side with circle or pine cone representing the pineal gland in the brain, also known as the central or inner sun."

from http://www.thetarotpriestess.com/Kundali...uceus.html

"A caduceus (kerykeion in Greek) is a staff with two snakes wrapped around it. It was an ancient astrological symbol of commerce and is associated with the Greek god Hermes, the messenger for the gods, astrologer, healer…
It was used by the astrologer priests in the Eleusinian Mysteries of ancient Greece, and has been associated with the Gnostic Corpus Hermeticum and Kundalini Yoga, where it is thought to be a symbolic representation of the "subtle" nerve channels the "ida", "pingala", and "sushumna" described in yogic kundalini physiology."

http://www.experiencefestival.com/a/Caduceus/id/436641

there is a lot to learn about kundalini yoga. and it is true that one should take precautions when interested in going that road; foremost of which is to avail of the guidance of one learned in it.

i was watching a documentary once of a woman who said she had been doing yoga and i think she reached a point in the experience which scared the hell out of her because her body was behaving in ways she did not understand and thus could not explain. She dropped the whole yoga thing and turned born-again Christian, saying yoga was the work of Satan, etc.

the collective unconscious has put the image of the caduceus before your eyes. kundalini is the power of the snake (shakti energy) that rises up the sushumna to the top of the head. it is thus that one attains illumination.

so you got the expression right when you say: "....I sensed they could grow higher...

HEALING would be the message of your dream.
not just for your cancer but for the whole of you.
perhaps the yoga for cancer is the first step and your dream is telling you hey, there's more to this that you should know.

Kundalini - twisted serpents ?
Ells I have found a yoga class at our local YMCA that costs me nothing because I am a YMCA member. They go by your previous year's income when they figure your membership cost, so it's not too bad to join (at least at my Y - not sure if it is that way everywhere.)

I used to do yoga by myself, taught myself, when I was much younger. It's lovely to have a teacher now because there are issues with joints that the teacher will watch for, and correct, if she sees anyone doing something that could blow out a knee or something. Many of us are older in her class so I suppose that's why she looks for such things.

I think healing would be a good message of this dream, too. I almost replied earlier to this but changed my mind. Mostly about the Kundalini part. Google searching it brings up some interesting info.

best wishes to you...

..... wow ..... thank you both very much for the replies. A lot to think about...and respect.

Healing (of a LOT of things) would be good right now, so I'm grateful if this dream may indicate the universe affirming and encouraging my efforts to break through to some better energy. Funny how that collective unconscious stuff works!

Since both of you underscored the helpfulness of human guides, I will certainly keep my eyes open for opportunities to be taught (on both the physical and spiritual planes) "When the student is ready...' etc.

Thanks again for your input... I'm still a little nonplussed by the applicable imagery...!
