Great resources on Horary & History of a student
I want to share my resources for what I've learned about horary. I was cruising the internet sometime back and out of the blue received an email from Marybeth Beechen. She had seen my posts on a website from England and thought I might enjoy horary astrology. She invited me to join the yahoo group: The Real Astrology which studies Horary Astrology primarily as taught by John Frawley. I joined and promptly had a horary chart about flooding where we owned land. Flooding was a great description for how I felt about learning. I felt like I was nearly drowning, swimming in new terminology. Every sentence I read felt like I was in the wrong class at school or they were talking in a foreign language. But, everyone was so nice and friendly! Chad Henry also moderates that list and it is a great list I plan to remain a member of for life! Everyone on the list took the time to patiently answer any questions I had, or steer me to where I could find the answers. It's been great!
One day, one of the members of the list mentioned I might also enjoy Angelicus Merlin, another horary forum on Yahoo. It was moderated totally at that point in time by Dorothy Kovich, who also has the website http://www.worldastrology.net and on that website has some free book downloads. William Lilly is her primary focus, as he was a very astute horary astrologer from England born in 1602. He wrote the book, Christian Astrology, which is full of intense knowledge. There are many good downloads on both Yahoo group sites. I can't remember how I came around to deciding to take a course from Branka Stamenkovic, but it may have been a referral from Chris on this forum. I began the course early in 2006 and completed it before the year was out. Students are allowed two years to complete her course. The course covers many areas including reception and dignity of planets, strength and debility of planets, timing, lost objects, love questions, real estate questions, strange and odd questions, pregnancy questions, and more. Her website is: http://www.branka.net.yu/English.html and is a good place to start if you wish to contact her to take her course. It is a great course and I don't regret for a moment the time and money I spent on it. All of the above people and websites have contributed to where I am today with horary astrology. I had studied astrology, casting charts long hand, back in the 1970's. After a very long period away from it, I came back to it. I received SolarFire in the mail on April 21, 2005 and promptly cast a chart for the time I started up the program, which I saved. So, I've only really been back to astrology since early 2005. My children are grown, and I have alot of motivation to study in my spare time. I am thrilled to have this chance that Molly has given me to try out my skills and also to reach out and help others learn. I want to give back what has been given to me! Welcome to this forum! |

Paula, I'm sure you'll so a great job with this, so don't let it freak you out.

Not a horary proggie, but Morinus is a wonderful pice of free software to calculate primary directions - and even direct the planets through terms: http://pymorinus.extra.hu/
If you download it, instal it, and don't have a clue how to use it, I made a blog post with screenshots walking you through the setup here: http://36cards.wordpress.com/2009/07/07/...y-morinus/ Many old ebooks including Dariot, Culpeper, Saunders, Kirby, Gadbury, et al, can be found at: http://www.astrologiamedieval.com/e-Books.htm |
