natal Venus in 10th house
I'm curious about how natal Venus in the 10th is working out for others. I've never really been able to relate to this placement or tap into it (I'm a Leo with strong Mercury/Virgo influences, and it seems that Mercury/writing/communication have been strong themes).
However, my mother seems to have played out all the Venus in Cancer in 10th house themes -- she's a fantastic cook and professional interior decorator. Decorating, cooking, domestic things seem to elude me and aren't of much interest. Can a person be blocked in expressing 10th house energies (which are supposedly career-related)? (Venus is semisquare Sun and square Mars in my chart, but there are many sextiles and trines to other planets -- Mercury, Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune). Venus moving through the 10th now will energize this placement, so I'm interested in maybe consciously working with it. So how is Venus in the 10th for you? |

natal Venus in 10th house
HI Kodey,
Would be interested in hearing more about this too, as it's my natal placement. Mine's in Virgo, squaring Moon and Mars, sextile Saturn and ASc, semi-sextile sun, inconjunct Chiron and quintile Neptune (whew!). All I can say is that currently i'm working in a Venus-influenced sector (perfoming arts) but in a service/admin assistant position ( MC in Virgo!) - also I tend to naturally gravitate towards easygoing work environments and am often noted for the "cheerful, playful, peacekeeping" vibe I often create in the office...although I am by far not the most diehard worker ! On a side note, I have Taurus on the Cusp of my 6th house so maybe it's kind of a double whammy in terms of Venusian influence in the workplace? Otherwise...I've read that 10th houe Venusians are supposed to have a greater propensity for mixing business with..ahem, pleasure. Or becoming invoved in significant professional/social projects with their partners. So far I've only been romantically involved once with a person i've worked with - another Venus in 10th ! - and the pickings are sure slim where i'm working...altho' you never know, stranger things do happen during conventions.. ![]() Oh, in a more anecdotal vein, I've also read that Venus in 10th can confer a voice that "gets noticed". I'm no opera singer but I do enjoy singing immensely, and have been told I have a pleasant singing voice. |

natal Venus in 10th house
Scoripiosalsera, good points about Venus in 10th. I have Venus on the MC (Virgo) and like you have been told I had a very distinctive and pleasant voice. ... as well as a polite telephone manner - strange compliment, but I'll take it !
![]() People often tell me that I have an easy and agreeable disposition in the workplace... Also, I don't like conflicts at work and would love for everyone to get along ideally in a harmonious environment. As far as love in the workplace -- I haven't experienced that yet -- so if you guys have any tips or stories, please share! ![]() I think having Venus in the Tenth may also attract help or assistance sometimes from higher-ups? Maybe... as they will like you and want to help you. (Sometimes, definitely not always). All in all, I think Venus bestows grace on the individual, especially when it comes to public/career matters... and when expressed freely can offer one a lovely or creative touch - Just my guess anyways! LOL, Penny, I think I posted this somewhere before, but my "pleasant phone demeanour" was a major plus i had at a call centre job i temped at, and at another (call-intensive) job I worked at they had me tape the general voicemail message...
![]() Certainly I have had "lucky breaks" thanks to office superiors...they've been incredibly supportive and generous with me ( far more than I deserve, and with no icky "harssment" strings attached). But it's also been a bit of a pitfall in the sense that things may come too easily, so i'm not necessarily spurred on to accomplish more . |

I've read somewhere that a planet at the top of your chart like that, in 10th, is somewhat like a big juicy bunch of grapes that is just out of your grasp, something you have to always really stretch all your muscles to get toward, and then you never quite get more than a taste and have to keep trying for it again and again. I guess especially if that planet has hard aspects to it, and being in Gemini maybe its energy gets scattered sometimes. But it's always worth it in the end, and it's the journey that counts anyway, as they always say...I have my Mars in Gemini in 10th. My Mars is square Venus/Pluto in 1st, and quincunx Neptune in 3rd, sextile Mercury in 12th. Mars is hard for me to express. When I do it's great. E.g. I started going to the gym a couple months ago and got in the groove of that. But now that I'm back from a long road trip I'm out of that habit, and it's hard for me to get back to the gym, I have to really "stretch" to get back to it. Could be the same thing going on with your Venus in Gemini. I think 10th house is supposed to be pretty challenging no matter what.

free bird, i have never heard that planets in the 10th are challenging... where did you get that?
what i've learnt and experienced it is that planets at the MC are very visible and esaily expressed, and that both the outside world and teh person himself/herself tend to identify the person with a planet/sign at teh cusp of 10... Life in itself has no meaning. Life is an opportunity to create meaning. Meaning has not to be discovered: it has to be created. You will find meaning only if you create it. (Osho) |

natal Venus in 10th house
The tenth house is riveting. As a mother with a child who has 5 planets in the 10th (Sun, Merc, Venus Jupiter and Chiron) and I can only wait and see what happens. it seems such a 'grown-up' configuration, and he's still only a teenager at school. He's already a budding scientist (planets in Gemini opposing Saturn/Uranus in Sag) and hates conflict of any kind.
Penny writes : I think having Venus in the Tenth may also attract help or assistance sometimes from higher-ups? Maybe... as they will like you and want to help you. (Sometimes, definitely not always). This seems to be the case. People want to help him and practical advice and assistance (the good kind) are always forthcoming. He is very shy though, and dislikes too much attention, which I find surprising for a 10th houser with Leo rising. The oppositions to Saturn perhaps? Thanks, Taz ;-) |

natal Venus in 10th house
Hi haku and penny! I meant "challenging" in a Saturn/Capricorn sense...10th house corresponds to Saturn/Capricorn. I wish I could remember which book I got that analogy from. I guess I see the main idea of the 10th house in "Parker's Astrology"--
"This is the house of aspiration and worldly progress...If a personal planet is placed in this house there is usually a powerful need for emotional involvement in a career...what can seem like burdensome responsibility is in fact increased prestige and status." Yes, I do see that 10th house indicates the kind of work that comes naturaly to me, because I like it and identify with it. But to me 10th house has that challenging Saturn/Capricorn theme--things in 10th take time to finish, they just don't happen with me sitting there. I guess this is partly my Mars in 10th talking. Though Mars is in Gemini, I also have Moon in Taurus in 10th, and my MC is also Taurus, so there you go...Taurus takes its time. I love gardening, plants, and food, is it any wonder I remember best the analogy of the "juicy grapes". I have a big lazy streak in 10th (Taurus Moon has hard aspects) and also lots of Gemini scattering of energies--Mars in Gemini is square my Pluto (some blocks there) and also is the finger of a yod with Neptune and Saturn. So 10th is maybe more challenging for me than some people, and maybe I'm warping it quite a bit. When something is so hard to do, and then finally gets accomplished, then, wow, it's really worth the extra trouble even though it cost me an arm and a leg to do it. Also I think it really makes a difference if the planet is near the MC. Yeah, I agree, Haku, if it's angular (near the MC), for SURE that planet is more visibly expressed in public. I don't have anything near the MC, my Moon and Mars are further into the 10th. Anyway, kodey, with Venus in Gemini in 10th, do you sometimes work as a go-between or liason between people, in the communications/writing field? I seem to remember you saying in another post that you work as an editor, or something like that? That could be Venus, bringing writers together in print (Gemini) and putting them in better cooperation with the publisher. Just an idea, correct me if I'm wrong. Also Venus is artistic and creative, maybe you're striving for more art and creativity in writing? |

natal Venus in 10th house
Hi freebird,
I'm reflecting on some of your comments, food for thought. Actually I have Venus in Cancer in the 10th but Gemini rules the 10th house (ruler Mercury in Virgo in the 12th). Yes, I've been writing creatively for a while, but it hasn't yet manifested as my career/job (though when I think about it, I consider it to be my primary work). My progressed moon will soon cross the MH and journey through the 10th house, so I'm more consciously focusing on the 10th/Venus to work with the energies. During one of the first astrology readings I ever had, the astrologer said, "You have Venus in the 10th house, so your true love comes late in life." (I said, "How late?" and she said "Late!" -- I'm still waiting.) So comments above about 10th house and Saturn influence on Venus are interesting. |

natal Venus in 10th house
Interesting thread. I've got Venus in Libra conjunct Neptune on the midheaven natally. Was into accounting for a while, then got a degree in Illustration/Art. Now I'm working with kids at an elementary school. If I could mix the children and art together, that would be fun. Met my husband at work so that part fits.

Hi kodey!....perhaps later on in life you may find yourself doing some of the things your mom did or taking over for her in someway that might be on a career or more business like capacity. This may come by way of or involve family, arts, work/career/ a woman or children in some way. Ven is said relate to one perception/ expression of the mother/maternal. It may suggest that you make a home of, in, or at your career or calling. It might be interesting to note what other planet if any is in your 4th house...if not a planet I've found that asteriods and transneptunian "planets" yeild interesting finds (I'm sure there are some posts with urls about both that I or others have left that can help you if you want to find for your chart). Anywho...as well the aspects made...especially challening ones...to your Venus have a lot to do with what may pull you in another direction from purely Ven/Can.

Hi Crimson,
Thanks for the feedback, interesting to reflect on that. Maybe 10th house/Saturn influence has a delayed or deepening effect? I'd be interested in a link for checking out transneptunians, I haven't looked into that at all (I don't think they're listed on astro.com). I've always wondered about my Venus semi-square Sun, even though it's a minor aspect. While Venus has many aspects (mostly trines and sextiles), my Sun is essentially unaspected except for the Venus semi-square (and a quintile to Neptune). So maybe the semi-square affects Venus even more? |

RE: natal Venus in 10th house
One of my sisters has Venus in Gemini in her 10th. The energy seems to manifest in several ways. She's found flirtations at her work. She is an English major. She strives for beauty and is seen as being beautiful, people tell her that all the time.

RE: natal Venus in 10th house
I have Venus in the 10th in detriment. (Scorpio, where Venus is not very happy)
I have always found it easy to get a job in spite of many moves. I worked together with my husband in several jobs working for others, then we got our own business in our own commercial building eventually where we worked together for 14 years. When Mars by progression hit my midheaven, I ended up with a change. We moved, I had to get another job, and I now work around alot of males, some are engineers. Venus in detriment in the 10th, I believe, is one of the factors creating a desire for too much sugar (eating) and probably contributes to a potential for diabetes, though I am exercising and trying to eat right to avoid that path (heredity says it could be my path, but mentally I say NO to that). Venus natally is conjunct the midheaven, and is oriental (ahead of the Sun) and also conjunct Mercury, which probably helps with the getting of new jobs. I'm reading a book on Venus (again) right now and her path is so interesting. It isn't a normal path and there is a very incredible pattern that she follows. BTW I enjoy work in general but once Mars hit my midheaven, I've had more problems with work (my job) internally. |

RE: natal Venus in 10th house
Venus in 10th indicates a tendency to achieve things without much difficulty. Material happiness is better as compared to others. A high lifestyle is indicated. Professions like photography , music , theater may be chosen and indicates success in it as well.
Such a person need not work very hard in professional life...Passionate involvement is indicated in the chosen area of profession. May get attracted to a person of opposite sex at office. - Samjoshi26 |
