How I'm working on my North Node...the list
I was thinking it might be a helpful thread if some of us could post about our north node experiences. Maybe we can help each other or any new members who might come on board.

I would be happy to start.

I have north node in Scorpio in the 7th house.
:o
Needless to say, my south node in the 1st house made for a very independent spirit. when I was younger I did everything alone. I went to movies alone. I went out for meals alone. And I mean I did this when I was a kid, teen ager etc. At an age when most kids are usually with best friends all the time. I had many friends but a lot of times I just didn't want to get bogged down dealing with anyone else.. How South in 1st.. and of course it was south node in Taurus.. so it was pretty much, "my way or the high way" in many ways.

As time progressed I became more and more open to planning things with others and committing.. I think that the scorpio really needs commitment.

I also found that when I took jobs for just the money..I usually got screwed. I currently freelance and never have any idea where my money will come from...and I HATE IT... but I do recognize that there is something about it that my soul does respond... it really is like flying without a net and I think that is the scorpio... There has also been times in my life when I have done complete 180s on things and just said, "I'm no longer doing X" and my whole life has changed. Again, it feels very un-taurus.
I flew to NYC without a wing or a prayer but my instinct (and there is a lot of instinctualness to scorpio) told me that I would get this one specific job with this one specific company. I slept on my friends couch for a month and low and behold another friend went out of town for three months and said I could stay in his place for free and during that time, I got that job. Once I got that job my entire life changed. I won't bog the discussion down with how..but the point is t hat my instincts guided me... not anything measured and sure and steady ...taurus...

my other perk and 7th house, was of course, getting married. I 've said on other threads that I didn't meet my husband until I was 38 and we married at 41.. and then in a very nice scorpio transformation I had a baby at 43. Which I should note coincided with pluto on my sun. I guess spirit knew my north node in scorpio would benefit by transiting pluto...

This is just a short version..but I still have more in front of me to live and experience and I can't wait for more transformations.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
Well, I won't be shy.

I do NOT know anything about Nodes (I know lots about Juno, though Big Grin). I just looked at my chart:

My North Node is in my Second House (possessions, money) and is in Cancer (nurturing, home, care).

I have not studied the Nodes at all and I wish I could find a suitable online site that would give good insight. But, I shall try to walk my way through this slowly, hehe.

I do not have any planets in Taurus or the second house.

I always thought it was odd because I did not have any planets in Taurus or the second house, I still have always been driven to succeed because of money. I MUST succeed!!! I MUST make money to provide for my children (if things ever became bad and I lost my husband somehow, I MUST be able to take care of them).

I want my profession to DEFINITELY make enough money. I want that so badly that I am willing to stay in college another 6 years and re-take annnnny hard classes to make sure I get a good job.

When I was 7, I used to do 8 hours of work for neighbors for $4 (Until my mom found out...and told me I was being underpaidSmile heh). Money was a big thing. If anyone asked me to do a chore and offered me money, I would haggle for an hour... talking them into raising my pay a few dollars.

A good job is important because I believe that is the way to fulfill my happinesses. Alot of my goals in life will require money to achieve them, so I am going to make sure I get a good occupation.

Now that I think on it, anytime I have ever dreamed about the future, two things come to mind: I will get money and I will have money to take care of my "nest"... my home. Its very important to me to get enough money for a secure, comfortable, safe home.

My N. Node is in Cancer. . . the sign of the home, my "nest." Gee, that was very interesting.

-----

As for my South Node being in the 8th house and in Capricorn, I have no clue how to interpret that :?:.

twinkling star,
well for someone who doesn't know much about nodes...you seem to be pretty in touch with your north node which is great.

all that self earning stuff is very 2nd house.

to learn more... check out Jan Spiller's book "Astrology for the Soul"...

It is brilliant and I never use that word. Only for Jan.

your desire to acquire and earn through your own efforts is very 2nd... 8th is other people's money.... the cancer is about emotions... you might really benefit reading her book about the capricorn factor.... selling out feelings for prestige.. selling out feelings for career...selling out feelings for power.... something in there?

check out the book.
and thanks for poking in the thread....

more the merrier..Smile

".... selling out feelings for prestige.. selling out feelings for career...selling out feelings for power.... something in there? "

You named something I have been debating with myself for a few months now. Now that I must decide a career, I often fight between: Wanting a career with prestige (And MONEY!!!) (which means years of school and work) and also wanting to not devote the next 6+ years of my life to a career but thinking of a cute, cuddley little family Smile and devoting my time to my children.

So its definitely Home Vs. Career.
But, MONEY is the key, so Career wins... and then family can come later when everything is secure. Big Grin

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
Hi everyone!

I have North Node in Sag, So. in Gemini conjunct Mars and Saturn. Depending on house systems, the North Node either falls in the 8th or 9th house.

I've noticed with my South Node in conjunction to Mars and Saturn that I have a compulsion to want all the information before I speak about something. (Public speaking is a challenge in general for me) I tend to take this gathered information seriously. But, it feels like there is always more to gather before something is mastered or I feel confident presenting it. So it's defeating in the sense that I rarely take risks to overcome this-I keep myself in the student role.

There are several significant times in my life where my Sag North Node has taken the reigns and moved me out of that rigidity-though not always specifically in the student/teacher playoff. One that stands out involves a job I had about 7 years ago. I was working as a receptionist and file clerk (Gemini). I felt very stifled there even though my co-workers were nice in their own right and it was only part-time. I still felt out of place, so I told myself that I would quit when another job came along (2nd house security). Well a year passed and still no job. Around that time I began to get panic attacks at work and couldn't figure it out 'logically'. After a weekend trip to the coast I came up with the brilliant realization that I would quit and just give it up to faith that I would be taken care of (how Sag.) So I gave my two weeks. And within a couple weeks of quitting I was working with a friend selling Aromatherapy diffusers and oils, travelling (Sag.) to different healing fairs and festivals in other states. My work became an adventure! What I found really wild was that each month I had just enough money for food/rent/bills-to the penny!

So in more ways than one I feel my North Node in Sag has taught me about taking leaps of faith!

I've got Pluto transitting my North Node soon....I'm so curious!!

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
Tracy/trabot~

It is somewhat of a toss-up on the 8th or 9th house placement because of it already being in Sag. but I would lean towards the 8th. In 1995 Saturn was squaring my nodal axis and I went through some significant changes in my life in terms of self-worth, what I placed value on in my life. My sister was going through a hard time (more 3rd house) and I moved twice during that transit. The first move I sold all of my possessions (2nd house) and moved out of state, to a place I had never been before (I've done this several times-sounds like the sponteneity of Sag./restless Gemini too) with some friends. My whole direction in life shifted at that time. I did turn more to studying astrology, tarot, herbs, yoga etc. than anything~8th house esoteric.

I do feel that directional dance again now. As Pluto transits the N. Node I will be graduating from college and ready for something new~hopefully travel. I've felt that an opportunity will present itself, yet I'm feeling a bit anxious as graduation approaches.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
hi everyone!

wow! such an interesting and helpful thread...i've only recently "discovered" the importance of the lunar nodes and am trying to learn as much as possible about them...

i've only found one book about nodes (in an obscure bookstore at that!) it's called "your secret moon" pretty interesting.Smile

personally, i've my n.node in the 5th/libra...i read that even though one with this nodal position feel a compulsion to "go out and change the world" (s.node/11th) the person has to "focus on making a name for himself first before he is given the chance to save the world" i get pretty confused as the house "dictates" something, and the sign "dictates" something else...:o i do have to admit, though, that i've always felt that sort of tension in me...(me vs. others)...any ideas where i can learn more about this?

p.s. in addition to my node's positions, i've a full 5th and 11th house(s)....

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
Hi
I have the opposite N/S node to Twinkling_Star

My North Node is in Capricorn in my 8th House. I have be terrified of speaking in public and any ideas around fame and being noticed for most of my life. As well as any abuse of power (8th H) I have been very sensitive to. But in the last ten years I have been slowly been coming into my own power and have been taking on public roles (Capricorn) more and more and I am slowly getting use to it. It is a easy place for me to be - hiding in my home (cancer), secure and safe in my cave. But I think that my 8th H North Node in Capricorn has other plans for me. It is scary but it isn't going to happen over night we have many years in preparation for our North Node.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
Hey, just came up with a couple of web sites on the Nodes...there are others but I'll have to dig them up:

http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Nodes33.0.htm

http://www.mooncatsastrology.com/webpage...rnodes.htm

Well, I've also got the Taurus- Scorpio connection (Tau 6th SN: Scorpio 12th NN). No planets in 6th, but according to Canopus software, NN is conjunct my Asc. and in the same house as my Scorpio Sun (least aspected planet).

Can't say I really get a handle on my Taurean "baggage". I am not particularly materialistic, and I am not known for my physical endurance...although my innate laziness is legendary, esp. in the field of day-to-day work! On another level I AM prone to playing the "helper" role and being loathe to accept any form of help/assistance, material especially . (heheh, 6th house, being the "server", not the "served").

I can identify more with the 12th house/Scorpio energy. For one thing I am pretty heavily Scorpionic as it is (Sun/Rising/Merc/Uranus), and in the past few years I have met some people who have definitely had a very painful, transformational, revolutionary effect on my life, both as far as my career (Pluto in 10th) and as far as my spiritual/psychological outlook (12 th house) are concerned.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
I've got north node in Virgo in the 4th. I also have :pluto: in the 4th, not conjunct. I just realized today, within the last hour, that I have literally left pieces of myself in various places and with various people in my past. (not many people would grant me the use of the word 'literally' but that is the way it feels) So :pluto: digs in, destroys, makes things out of the ashes of my past, roots etc. But now I see that I must go back carefully, sifting through the ashes to find the pieces of myself and my self-love that I gave away by loving others in a way that included loving them instead of myself. A collector at my own yardsale.

Cairn~

It's interesting that you mention the public speaking in connection to your North Node being in the 8th house. I also have this placement though in Sagittarius.

I have been terrified of public speaking since I was in elementary school! No matter how many times I've had to give speeches or when I've taken speech classes it's never really helped. I try to rationalize it, I've tried the 'imagine everyone in their underwear', but nothing seems to have worked ~yet. Its not a matter of being 'rational' for me or even practice. Informal settings are the most comfortable for me (if at all) when speaking or sometimes when I do it spontaneously (Sag). I always had attributed it to my 12th house Sun and Saturn in the 3rd~wanting to be behind the scenes coupled with fears around communication. I guess the 8th house also tends to be 'hidden'.

Where in the chart does it show how to overcome this??

just some musings:

fremia:
selling all your possessions gives me the same opinion that your axis points is very much between the 2nd and 8th houses. Again, I would really encourage you to get Jan's book.

also, the issue with public speaking really is a capricorn issue with regards to Cairn. Capricorn is about the public. That's why politics is very Capricorn. However, running for politics does have a Sag element to it. but for different reasons.
Because I have north node in scorpio the group just older than me has north node in Sag (the nodes go backwards for those who don't know)...anyway, I am very familiar with that group's weaknesses, for lack of better word... and definitely I know many, many a peter pan who is a couple years older than me. Afraid of commitment, afraid to make a mistake, getting lost in minutia, too focused on the trees does not see the forest... all very gemini and definitely, definitely spend too much time in school as the student..when what they should be doing is teaching. They already know the stuff and yet that darn south node.
I just want to shake some of them and say... TAKE A RISK, FOR GAWDSAKE.. you're 48 years old..when are you going to do it!!!!! but that is me..

please, you are younger get the book and you'll be on track way before my peter pan friends...Smile

Cairn:

My friends who are a bit older than my sag north nodes friends have the cap north node.. I can think of one guy in particular. This is a really, really talented guy. Very funny. Very smart.. Very clever. He has had so many opportunities with his career to really excel. I mean he could have been a major force..but what did he do? He changed his phone, he moved a lot..he did whatever he felt like doing. Very childlike. Very south node in Cancer. As you know, those with north node in capricorn are suppose to toughen up their hide..and just go out there and use their intuition (like all good water signs-cancer) but put it to good use. Being useful is their path...and a leader to a certain extent. Opening up a business is a great avenue because even when you don't feel like doing it (south cancer).. you still have to go open up the shop and do business....kwim?

By the way...I'd keep up with the public speaking...I am sure it will open up many opportunities for you. My own experience is when we do our north nodes our lives excell.

Personally, when I think of north node libra...and remember I have north node in the 7th... so I know a bit about this... it really would serve you to partner up. I don't care if it is a marriage or not.. just a partnering up. And if this partnering up can put you in the limelight..all the better. I imagine someone married to a celebrity would benefit greatly if they had your exact nodal placement. I also would think you have to natural watch being a rebel without a cause. Just stirring up stuff for the sake of stirring things up... that's very aries and 11th house...

again, the jan spiller book is my favorite suggested reading. Go to amazon.. she's there. Astrology for the soul.. don't confuse it with Spiritual astrology.. not the same book and I don't like that one particularly.

hi trabot! wow! you described me perfectly! lol Big Grin yes, there's always a compulsion to "partner up" which goes against my need to "do it alone" ("it's my way, or the damn highway!") definitely creates conflict with my moon in the 12th...my friends would get confused when am in my one of my lone wolf phases and would be ultra protective of my "me-time" and privacy. once i've recharged my batteries, am back being the social butterfly...friends either get frustrated or just get used to it Smile

funny that you gave the example of "being married to a celebrity" all the men i've seriously dated all had huge ambitions and the relationship would always be a "go-for-your-dream partnership" in addition to being a romantic or business relationship. guy i was really in love with had a secret dream of making it big in politics and was stunned when i mentioned to him one day that he'd "probably make a wonderful public servant if ever he so dream of being one" the other, wanted to earn extra cash as a model but was to shy and after a year of working on his public persona, he finally landed a lucrative contract...funny thing is that am as proud as a mother duck when her duckies first start swimming! guess i would make a good political wife:?::o

to be completely honest, i've always thought that my need to be with "partnered" up to someone with big dreams is because of my packed 11th (dreams, wishes, aspirations) and my nep,sag/7th (idealistic etc) so it was a blast finding out that it has a lot to do with my n. node, too Smile thanks for the tip!

stirring things up just for the sake of stirring things up...yup! definitely have a tendency to do that when am bored or feel vulnerable and/or ignored..:?:

p.s. oh, and please, DO continue with your musings! am definitely waiting for more enlightening stuff from you and everyone else! Big Grin

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
back here again...

scorpiosalsera:
I think you know that the 6th house is very...."if you can't see it, touch it, feel it, here it.... therefore it doesn't exist." So, I think just the fact that you understand and use astrology is very 12th house.. and yes, very scorpio on a certain level.

the lazy thing I can relate to, since I've got south node taurus... and a bit stubborn.

my question for you is... how old were you when Transiting pluto conjuncted your north node? It was in the 80's...my guess...
that might have put some part of your true path in motion. kwim?

Mark:
Your own musings are so tenderly written:

Quote:But now I see that I must go back carefully, sifting through the ashes to find the pieces of myself and my self-love that I gave away by loving others in a way that included loving them instead of myself. A collector at my own yardsale.

wow. my own take on your placement is that anyone incarnating with a north node in virgo in the 4th house has come through this lifetime to really learn how to value family whether it is their birth family or their family of friends or their own family that they generate. I don't know which one, but I would guess one will be significant. My first instinct with a 10th house pisces south node is someone who gave up their identity for spirituality but at a loss... maybe joined a nunnery in a past life but found it fraudulent or abusive.. or maybe someone who got caught up with some kind of Jonestown scenario in a previous incarnation.
And this lifetime it is all about being practical about your roots. Where you place them.. which certainly could include love interests..
but of course because of the south node tendencies you will mess up a few times... no kidding.. I know..but the ultimate result will be investing in your feelings and taking care of your emotions....

I have much hope for you, you already write so tenderly...which my guess comes from emotions that are being understood..maybe finally...understood...

those are my musings..

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
trabot~
I am going to look that book up asap! Thanks again for your musings. An addition to the North Node in Sag...5 years ago I sprung myself out into the universe not knowing where I might land. I surfaced in the SW and ended up working at a private school with preschool-1st grade age students. I started as an assistant and soon after I started, the head teacher left the school and I was appointed 'teacher'. My South Node Gemini chatter started...'I don't have the training, I'm not qualified, I can't because...' . My boss said 'You can do it!' Soon after this transition a friend of my boss came in and gave me a tarot reading. He translated that I was there to learn how to be a teacher, not as in 'at that school' but in general ~ as part of my life path. The school was spiritually oriented which I loved. While there, I also took on the role as co-administrator. I worked there two years-it was the best job I've had to date. Because it was a private school we had daily interaction with families- this fed my 11th house Venus in Aq. I'm still in touch with my boss and some of the families.

The past three years, while back in college, I've worked in Special Ed. as an instructional assistant, which often takes the role of teaching minus the paperwork and conferences, etc. I also volunteer in a fourth grade classroom working with children who have just moved to the U.S. from Mexico (Sag N. Node again).

After graduation and some travelling I plan to look for a work environment that is spiritually minded/open minded again, unique (6th house Uranus) that I can grow in. It is important that I am helping or contributing in someway (Jupiter in Pisces~11th). I'm not interested in having my own full-time classroom, unless it is a unique situation. Perhaps in collaboration or private (12th) courses of some kind.

It's interesting to hear about the North Node in Capricorn and the 5th/11th house axis. My boyfriend has this. He just quit his job to create his art full-time and make a go at it, jobs have been coming too! He is also a performing musician. Recently he returned to college to finish up his art degree-giving more structure to his art and completing a goal. Seems to fit the nodes quite well!

seriously? that's the first time i've heard of being someone who's in touch with her NN Big Grin (well, as am not a huge expert on nodes, i'll take your word for it Smile

funny you should ask about acting because my first job was in theatre (when i was 16) i was in production, though. i do love to dance and was pretty active in school productions and stuff back in middle school and high school...i would "perform" to my pets at home Big Grin but have never acted on stage professionally (although i find myself "acting" a lot--must be the pis MC or the moon in the 12th?!?! :?:

that's always been a childhood dream, though (performing) but nobody really knows about it--all they know is that am a little drama princess Angel i guess am too controlling to be a good actress :?: i would end up either getting fired or driving the director crazy :o

how about your NN in the 7th? you mentioned that you feel the libran influence a lot...how would you differenciate it with NN in lib to NN in the 7th? Smile and how about those with their NN/SN in the 5th-11th how'd it manifest for you guys? thanks in advance for sharing!!!!Smile

Te amo y no te amo como si tuviera
en mis manos las llaves de la dicha
y un incierto destino desdichado.

Mi amor tiene dos vidas para armarte.
Por eso te amo cuando no te amo
y por eso te amo cuando te amo.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
I've really enjoyed reading all your Node stories and thought I should share my own.

My Nth Node is in Pisces in the 3rd and my Sth is in Virgo in the 9th.

I grew up in a non-religious family and at about the age of 8 or 9, due to the influence of a teacher I think, I became extremely religious, telling my Dad that he wasn't my real father... That shocked him!! But I meant that Jesus was! I used to cry in bed at night reading my children's bible, about all the terrible things that happened to Jesus.

After a few years, for some reason, my philosophy changed and I became a total atheist. I decided I wanted to become a paediatrician. I shunned all religion completely. It was like if I embraced medicine, I had to shun religion...

I didn't become a Dr, something I still regret, but I did go into the pharmaceutical industry.

In my late 20's I did a Reiki course and experienced some amazing things which 'opened' me up spiritually. I have since been to see a medium who completely blew me away and led me to study the tarot, had past-life regressions, I have an overwhelming obsession for astrology (hey, I am a Scorpio, we're allowed to get obsessed!) and become very open to spirituality.

From what I understand about the nodes.... my past lives have been very Virgoan, analytical, methodical, precise, scientific, even medical.... And now I'm opening up to a more spiritual perspective.

It was interesting to hear what Lynn said on a different thread but in reflection, it looks like as a child I embraced my Pisces Nth Node and then I went to my Virgo Sth Node and then maybe now, I'm moving back to Pisces and finding a balance between the 2.

I'm still a bit of a control freak. If I do something that's important to me... hell, it has to be just right. Yeah... perfectionist when it matters to me!

But I am embracing my Sth Node and I did it LONG before I knew what it was! Maybe as I become more aware and more mature, I'll relax and let things happen as my Pisces Node would like... But for now, I'm finding a perfect balance between all things methodical and structured and going with the spiritual flow!

That's my story.... so far. But I'd love to hear any feedback. x

How I'm working on my North Node...the list

Quote:my own take on your placement is that anyone incarnating with a north node in virgo in the 4th house has come through this lifetime to really learn how to value family whether it is their birth family or their family of friends or their own family that they generate. I don't know which one, but I would guess one will be significant. My first instinct with a 10th house pisces south node is someone who gave up their identity for spirituality but at a loss... maybe joined a nunnery in a past life but found it fraudulent or abusive.. or maybe someone who got caught up with some kind of Jonestown scenario in a previous incarnation.
very interesting, thanks. I've always been obsessed by (or is 'with' the the proper conjunction) my family. The :pluto: onian focus has always been there. I have come to appreciate my parents more and gone back to pick and choose, rather than the very black and white decisions my :pluto: makes there. As far as what you say about losing myself in some spiritual way: It's this life stuff. Gurus, friends on weird trips, certain people talking like they 'knew' who seemed smart and charismatic, man talk about giving away power. thanks for the nice comment on the writing.

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
I thought I'd share, because I don't think it's a combination that's been mentioned yet: I have Cancer 10th house NN, and Capricorn 4th SN. While I would add my voice to those recommending Jan Spiller's excellent book on the subject, her chapter headings tended to be frustrating in my case, given that they were something along the lines of, "NN in Capricorn or in the 10th house." It can make things a bit confusing, to say the least. Big Grin

I'm relatively new to the nodes, but my own interpretation is that I need to get over Cancerian insecurities and work with the public somehow and give myself to them, as opposed to cloistering myself or letting myself get bogged down by the restrictions imposed by home life.

I also have Venus in Cancer in the 10th, but I have no idea yet as how to reconcile that with the NN in the 10th. We'll see, I guess. As I said, I'm new to the nodes. Smile

How I'm working on my North Node...the list
"scorpiosalsera:
I think you know that the 6th house is very...."if you can't see it, touch it, feel it, here it.... therefore it doesn't exist." So, I think just the fact that you understand and use astrology is very 12th house.. and yes, very scorpio on a certain level.

the lazy thing I can relate to, since I've got south node taurus... and a bit stubborn.

my question for you is... how old were you when Transiting pluto conjuncted your north node? It was in the 80's...my guess...
that might have put some part of your true path in motion. kwim? "

Hey Trabot,
Had to check...seems like my T:pluto: first made contact with my Natal NN in December 89, then again in Oct 90 .That would correspond to the first phase of my "adolescent crisis" (age 14-15) , about the time i started withdrawing into myself, I lost interest in creative pursuits, became anorexic, etc. Oh, and also moved houses (for like the 3d time in 6 years). Would that be a good fit?
